They say northern lights shine the brightest and rising star Craig Moritz is no exception. With an intense passion for music ever since he was a kid, Craig has always dreamed of being a country music star. "I remember singing along to Don Williams, Randy Travis, George Strait, Mac Davis and even Tanya Tucker," he recalls. Craig pursued his music through the school band playing saxophone, but as he explains "I figured if I couldn't wear a cowboy hat, strum a guitar and sing a few country tunes, it just wasn't for me..."
Since High School, Craig has been making enormous strides on the country music scene and embarked on a full time music career in 2002. Craig's tireless work ethic and from-the-heart performances have landed him front and centre, opening various shows for the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Charlie Major, Jason McCoy, Aaron Lines, George Canyon and for one his mentors David Lee Murphy.
In 2003, Craig attended Country Music Week in Calgary with the intention of finding a producer who would be able to capture his unique sound and tremendous appeal for his first album. As a result, Tom McKillip (producer for Aaron Pritchett, Samantha King, Lisa Brokop and many more) came on board and an exciting period of pre-production, intense, discerning song selection, and many hours of hard work ensued.
In May of 2005, Craig came a little closer to realizing his dream of being a country music star with the release of his debut album, The Way I Feel, which has already been given rave reviews. "Recording this album has been a long road... but well worth the wait..." - and now the rest of the country is about to be let in on Northern Alberta's best kept secret - Craig Moritz.
Craig's enthusiasm and passion for country music will always keep him in pursuit of his dream - to be a country music star. "I just follow my heart and here I am."
